Waitangi Tribunal hears urgent hearing over prisoner voting rights

May 20, 2019 - Barrister Richard Francois claims the 2010 Amendment to the Electoral Act is discriminatory.

An urgent hearing is underway this week at the Waitangi Tribunal on prisoners not being allowed to vote.

It's being brought to the tribunal because more than half the inmate muster is Māori.
